Strava Segments of the Week: Holiday-themed segments in Portland

With Christmas coming up this weekend, we wanted to highlight a few Strava segments to consider.

I am sure most of us have heard of the lights of Peacock Lane in SE Portland. While there isn’t a segment on the road itself from what I can see, it is essentially kitty-corner to Laurelhurst Park. We recommend checking out the Laurelhurst Loop from Pine and around the lake, a 1.15 mile loop that will will be a great pre-or post-race, and lights, section.

Another popular holiday event takes place at the Pittock Mansion is their Critters Make Merry exhibit, which runs through January 4, 2022. Obviously there are a ton of great trails nearby in Forest Park and Washington Park, but there are a few which will take you up to the main attraction:

Lastly, if you are headed to Christmas Festival of Lights at The Grotto maybe consider running before or after. If so, 82nd to the Grotto is a downhill jaunt right into the lights themselves.

Regardless of where you are running this weekend, have a happy Christmas holiday!

Also, if you use Strava (or want to get started – it’s free!) please join the Run Oregon club! We currently have over 720 members! It’s a fun way to keep track of your miles and see how others in the area are doing.

Strava is an online training and racing log for runners and cyclists. The basic account is free and requires you to create a login. Note that this is not sponsored by Strava, nor endorsed or supported in any way by Strava. It’s just a fun thing we’re going to do to give some speedy shout-outs to area runners and pose a challenge to those of you willing to take on their segment.
