Strava Segment of the Week: Along the Holiday Half (10k and 5k too!)

Foot Traffic’s Holiday Half (10m, 10k, and 5k) is one of, if not THE, premier December race in Oregon. This Portland race starts and finishes at the LEED Platinum-certified Daimler Trucks North America campus on Swan Island.

This week, we have picked a handful of segments from this race for a variety of reasons. The in-person race is sold out, but there are still virtual options available. And what better way to do the virtual Holiday Half than to run the course on your own?!

If you aren’t in the mood for that, we also want to highlight the shorter Waud Bluff Trail to Dog Park segment that is a part of this course – the gradual curve along North Willamette Blvd from north to south. The segment is about 1.57 miles and has been ran over 18k times from over 4200 (!) total participants.

Remember, you can still register for the Virtual Holiday Half for $42 and still get their race shirt, finisher’s medal, and all the other swag that comes from it.

Also, if you use Strava (or want to get started – it’s free!) please join the Run Oregon club! We currently have 719 members! It’s a fun way to keep track of your miles and see how others in the area are doing.

Strava is an online training and racing log for runners and cyclists. The basic account is free and requires you to create a login. Note that this is not sponsored by Strava, nor endorsed or supported in any way by Strava. It’s just a fun thing we’re going to do to give some speedy shout-outs to area runners and pose a challenge to those of you willing to take on their segment.
