Cold Weather Stocking Stuffers from Gore & BlackStrap

Morning runs in November mean a lot more cold and a lot more darkness than a few weeks ago. Which means the perfect timing to try out my new gloves from Gore Wear. My pair of M Gore-Tex Infinium Stretch Gloves is such a bright yellow that I feel safer immediately. Like I glow in the dark or maybe have some superhero speeds locked in. The gloves are a great extra layer of warmth for the beginning of the run, then thin enough to easily squish into a pocket after I get warmed up. The fit is great; I had no worries about them falling off or flying off during our recent winds.

The Grid Light Beanie is a wonderful addition as well, as one of the worst places to get cold on a run is the ears. It is surprisingly thin, yet still somehow warm. If you are a hat wearer, the more slimmed design should allow you to utilize this under a hat – something I appreciate on those cold and wet runs. It actually fits lower on your head if you choose to. I have had a few beanies in the past that have felt short and like they were always going to rise up in the front and/or back at times. This will absolutely not be the case with this one.

And overall, the branding just made me feel like a super cool runner. I mean seriously, check out their video and try to tell me Gore Wear isn’t the coolest. It is clear from wearing the gloves and beanie, and checking out the Gore Wear website, that a lot of thought and effort went into creating this gear. Their features highlight the “windproof, extremely breathable and durably water resistant, lightweight protection.” The technology involved in these gloves and hat is evident in the fabric, the seams, and the easy cleaning.

Now just one more video to highlight the science and the art involved in our beloved sport.

BlackStrap is a company that lives true to the “made in the USA” label. Since their inception in Bend, in 2008, BlackStrap strives to be an industry leader in innovation and quality for sport accessories. The company uses their products to promote the programs in which they believe.  Here at Run Oregon, we recommend checking stuffing some stockings with BlackStrap’s Multifunctional UV Headband or The Tube.

The accessories BlackStrap create and distribute are the perfect addition for enjoying the outdoors by producing quality products to keep you warm or protect you from the sun. The Multifunctional UV Headbands are super stretchy (4-Way Stretch Fabric) and have all the qualities runners love (naturally antimicrobial & machine washable, breathable with a perforated micro-pore fabric, and moisture-wicking and quick dry. The Tube is geared more towards skiing/snowboarding (or maybe at an outdoor holiday event this winter), but can work equally well for when you need that extra face layer on a run in the chilly mornings. It could probably also be utilized in a pinch for a COVID mask-necessary situation.

There are a ton of great colors and designs and BlackStrap also supports the Parks Project, which supplies outdoor clothing accessories to those who work in outdoor recreation and public parks.

These are great stocking stuffers!
