Race Preview: 2022 Resolution Relay: Bring Your Own Baton (Boring, OR)

Believe or not, 2022 is just two months away. After 2020 feeling like it lasted FOREVER, 2021 has been a strange mix of highs and lows with sprints and stalls that kept us all wondering what day / week / month is it. So, when I tell you that 2022 is two months away, I’m really telling myself.

And since I’m a runner, obviously that means I’m also making plans for 2022 races.

First one on my schedule is the Resolution Relay: Bring Your Own Baton in Boring Oregon. Eastwind Running & Endurance is a wonderful running club on the eastside of Portland Metro with weekly group runs and a few larger events each year. Resolution Relay is the perfect way to get to know the organization for all of its energy and flair. The course primary uses Springwater Trail, which keeps costs down and allows for more funds to be used for local high school scholarships and benefits to participants.

Runners and walkers can choose from multiple options for how they want to complete the 13.1 miles, from going on a solo half marathon to signing up with friends to create a 2, 3, or 4-person relay team. There are more details on the event website, including tips for relay transportation and handoff. No matter how you join in, all participants are eligible for a costume contest and all finishers will receive a TBA award at the end.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the traditional post-breakfast meal in Boring Grange will be replaced by hot coffee and breakfast burritos in a nearby parking lot. After you first race of 2022, you get to score your first burrito of 2022. Win-Win. Aid stations along the course will provide water and limited quantities of Gu and other supports. Vendors and bag check will be near the start/finish line for easy access.

While we have no idea what 2022 will bring, you could know how it will start. 🙂
