Race Preview: 2021 Happy Girls Run (Sisters)

The third and final Happy Girls Run of 2021 takes place at the end of October in Sisters. Grab your girlfriends (or family members!) and pick between a fast, paved 5K or a scenic trail half marathon. If you want to get in the spirit of this women’s event but can’t make it to Sisters in person, there are also virtual options for both distances.

Those who challenge themselves to the half marathon will enjoy beautiful single track and amazing views of the Cascades on the Peterson Ridge trail system. The race starts and finishes at FivePine Lodge, and the course weaves through the Deschutes National Forest on rolling terrain. The start/finish is at an elevation of 3182 feet, and the course includes a few climbs along with some narrow and rocky sections, but the trails are mostly hard-packed and fun to run!

The 5K, on the other hand, is run entirely on pavement and tours the western-themed downtown area of Sisters. It also starts and finishes at FivePine Lodge, which hosts a post-race celebration with awards, coffee, cocktails, and food including hot soup.

Packet pick-up is offered at two different locations in the days preceding the race, including the race expo at FivePine Lodge, and at the start area on race morning.

Happy Girls Run also welcomes teams, walkers, and virtual runners for both the 5K and the half marathon. Whether you join in person or remotely, this is a fun and empowering women’s race!

About Heini Tallent (11 Articles)
I'm a sports massage therapist, running coach, and owner of Elements Running Education. I ran track in my native Finland in my teens, but focused on basketball until finally, at the age of 34, I picked up a couch to 5K plan. It snowballed from there: my first 10K, then a half marathon, coaching certification... I've been a runner and a student of running ever since. I love long, slow trail runs and fast 10Ks equally! Having lived in England and California, our family landed in Oregon in 2018. I love all the outdoors adventures in the beautiful PNW.
