What Run Oregon is Wearing: Mountain Hardwear’s NEW Stretchdown Light Pullover

Pacific Northwest residents spend a lot of time outside, and often in less-than-ideal conditions. So owning the right gear is not only smart, it’s necessary to do the things we love. If you’ve got anything in your wardrobe that’s from Mountain Hardwear, you automatically know you’re covered. The products wear well, they last, and they look pretty sharp too.

We recently received the Stretchdown Light Pullover and we absolutely love it. Both our testers loved their color options (especially the gorgeous green) and it feels light as a feather on, though it’s waterproof and insulating against any of the elements outside. No heavy, bogged down feeling here, and no limited mobility in it either.

Mountain Hardwear’s Stretchdown material comes from a revolutionary collection that weaves pockets of cozy down insulation from one single stretch fabric, and the result is a super comfy piece of clothing for all of your outside activities. The pullover is made with high quality goose down insulation that keeps this typically cold chick nice and warm, and even if I get caught in the rain, the waterproof superpowers will keep me dry too. There’s elastic on the hood, around the wrists, and around the bottom to ensue a snug fit where you need it, but a little bit of give too.

In addition to the color and the lightweight warmth of the Stretchdown Light Pullover, the storage potential is a huge selling point. Here’s what Nikki had to say:

The side pockets have zippers on them which is a big plus, since I am always slightly paranoid about losing stuff. I’ve been really lucky over the years, but I have several friends who have lost really expensive and hard-to-recover items, (like car keys .. Yikes!) because their gear didn’t have zipping pockets, so YAY for that. In addition to the standard zippered side pockets, there’s another great storage place in the jacket that we’ve not experienced with other pullovers. If I were to call it something, I would refer to it as a “reverse kangaroo pouch.”

You know how some sweatshirts have a big kangaroo pouch on the outside of a hoodie right about where your belly is? This pullover has one of those, but it’s on the inside instead, and you’d access it from the top rather than the sides. It’s a really good-sized underside pocket too, big enough to stash a full-sized magazine if that’s what you desired to put there. And since it’s inside a waterproof pullover, nothing is getting wet in there. If you decided to go for a hike in this item of clothing, you could stash a peanut butter sandwich there if you really wanted to, and probably a banana and water bottle as well.

Here’s the women’s pullover shown inside out with a letter-sized notebook tucked into the inside pocket.

Lastly, the hood on this pullover comes up pretty far, so you’ll get good coverage past your chin and to your mouth. That will surely help keep the wind and rain out and the warmth in!!

The Stretchdown Pullover is extremely durable as well as high quality, and Mountain Hardwear certainly didn’t take any shortcuts to ensue this will become a new staple in your closet that you’ll reach for time and again.

Mountain Hardwear was founded in 1993 by a small band of outdoor industry iconoclasts. They saw the industry changing, compromising quality and dumbing down products to serve less technical users. Mountain Hardwear was founded to buck this trend in order to stay true to the needs of outdoor athletes.
