Race Preview: 2021 Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon (VIRTUAL)

The Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon is part running race, part wine festival; the usual event is a two-day celebration of running, wine tasting, and live music. While we are still navigating additional health and safety guidelines, this race is staying virtual for 2021 and making its full in-person return in 2022.

But this doesn’t mean there’s no wine country fun this year! You can choose to run or walk a 5K or a half marathon; you can also share the half with a friend and run it as a relay, or enter a 5-person team for the ultimate Winery Cup team challenge, where each runner completes the half marathon and it’s your team’s total time that counts! You’ll have a 10-day window to run your distance and log it.

The virtual team options open this up for teams that may not be able to run together or in the same location. You don’t have to run your relay legs in the right order, or on the same day. You just need to make sure that each runner completes a different leg and uploads the correct result. There’s no doubling up for the team challenge – you’ll need a team of 5 runners to log an official result.

Registration is available at two levels: standard or deluxe. (If entering for the team challenge, all team members must be registered in the same transaction but you can mix registration levels and extras.) Standard gets you a race entry with bib, and the chance to win wine by placing in your category. Deluxe registration also includes a wine tumbler, finisher’s medal, and additional race goodies. Race shirts and tumblers can also be added to your order separately.

And if you know that you’ll want to run in the Oregon Wine Country again in 2022, you can get this year’s virtual entry for free if you register for next year’s event early.
