A couple years ago I had the pleasure of writing a preview for this race. At the time, my calendar was full of ultras and this was not on the radar, but I knew I wanted to run it. So near the end of the 2019 season I made a note to sign up, and I did. I was psyched!
Of course, 2020 happened and we all know how that went. The Mac was postponed and then eventually cancelled, but the organizers offered a rollover for the following year and I knew it was still a race I really wanted to do, especially since this is the 25th running of it.
So, here we are. Even with COVID restrictions, staggered start times, mask requirements, distancing, and aid stations where volunteers wear gloves and you can’t just grab stuff, this race is on!
The course is the same, with 65% single track, and 35% forest service road, that run through the beautiful McDonald Forest trails outside of Corvallis. And with 6,800 feet of gain, this course is worthy for any trail runner. Still, even with the gain, the course is rolling, with many little climbs instead of 2-3 big ones, making this a fast 50K.
When: Saturday, May 8th. Race starts at 8am (Early start at 7am)
Cost/Registration: $95.00. Register online through UltraSignup
