Dress Like a Man: A Baker’s Dozen of Underwear (and loungwear) features with UnderGents

Those of you who have been reading this blog for a while, know that I have a little bit of a “thing” for men’s underwear. In fact, there was a time where I was reviewing men’s underwear on a monthly (or even bi-weekly) basis for a bit. It’s been a while, but I am back with version 13 (!) – featuring UnderGents.

Just when I think I don’t have anymore underwear to review, I get sucked back in – thanks, this week, to UnderGents. This baker’s dozenth (is that actually a word – “dozenth”?) post features two types of underwear and a loungewear set. Here’s a little intro to UG:

UnderGents was developed over several years as the 3rd wave in men’s underwear. UnderGents is ensuring the items worn closest to your body are the most comfortable items you wear, hence our name, “Under” for products worn under your clothes combined with “Gentle” for the CloudSoft™ gentle feel and our focus on men’s products. With our focus on comfortable function and style, we believe UnderGents are the most comfortable underwear in the world.

I mean, even though I’ve tried out over two dozen different underwear companies, I am not really an “expert” in this realm. I will say though, that I think UnderGents does a dang good job at creating some soft and comfortable undergarments and pajamas.

As men, I feel we are often times subjected to poor quality and uncomfortable clothes because we (typically) dislike shopping and are just fine with whatever is cheapest or whatever our significant other buys for us. This may not be as true in the running community, where we realize that it is difficult to run enjoyable and successful races in gear that is uncomfortable. Sadly, that’s probably the same for our underwear as well.

We tried two different boxer briefs from their Inspirato collection – a 4.5 inch flyless pair and 6 inch horizontal fly front. They are extremely comfortable and fit mostly true to size (though I felt that I could have sized down only in the longer cut). They are made with sustainable “CloudSoft Micro Modal”, which is both uber soft and keeps things cool. They aren’t necessarily for working out in, though I did try them out in a pinch and they held up quite well. I haven’t experienced chafing or riding up thus far, both major positives in my book. As for colors, they come in navy, black, and grey – each with piping around the seams, though the Flyless has many more color options. If boxer briefs aren’t your thing – just know that they also make briefs and boxers.

Pre- (and likely post-) Pandemic, I typically go from wearing shirts and ties during the day, to running clothes in the evenings. In the midst of a Pandemic, I have found myself in loungewear a little more than I’d care to admit. But there is just something about being comfortable, especially now, that is reassuring.

The Swagger Loungewear set is really top-notch. They come in two colorways – navy and black – though you can mix and match for a grey option. The pants are superlight to the touch and right now, and these past few weeks I have essentially been living in them. The CloudSoft micro modal blend fits loose on the legs, but almost has a “mini-jogger” style by tapering and a cuff at the bottom. However, it’s not a true jogger styling and still stays loose without constriction. There are pockets (a plus in my book), so if you do need to run out in them, it’s as functional a pair as you can have. The Swagger Shirt follows this same sort of construction and remains soft and comfortable. I really can’t say much more about them – they are just awesome.

More about UnderGents:

We are looking to redefine what every man can expect in terms of comfort and function in his underwear. To achieve this revolutionary new underwear (boxer briefs, trunks, & briefs), we researched what men disliked and liked about their current underwear and used this data as a roadmap to create comfortable underwear that would drastically improve men’s comfort down below. We found that only 20% of men are satisfied with their underwear comfort, that’s as bad as Congress. With 70% of men uncomfortable and 10% of men going commando to have some relief, we knew there was work to be done.

The time has come for men to be comfortable in their underwear. Leading the 3rd wave in men’s underwear means providing comfort underneath for today’s gentleman who is scoring big on the job, on the court, at home, or simply in life. Whether you wear boxer briefs, trunks, briefs/bikinis, or traditional boxer shorts; your underwear should not only keep up with you every step (jump, bend and stretch) of the way, but treat you and the boys down below to soft cool comfort all day, every day.

Your body moves in all directions, and so should your underwear? UnderGents is made with our unique Cloudsoft™ fabric that utilizes a nature-based micro modal that has been researched and developed to provide unbelievable softness along with support and stretch to keep you comfortable and in-place, all the time. Our Cloudsoft™ fabric is multiple times more absorbent than cotton, has incredible air permeability and disperses heat to keep you cool, dry, and odor free all-day long . The natural all-way stretch fabric design has anti-odor and moisture-wicking properties to keep men feeling fresh all day, everyday so you can finally keep the cologne above the belt where it belongs.

Thank you to UnderGents for providing us with samples. Please read our transparency page for info on how we do our reviews.
