Notorious 5K – Inaugural Race will honor RBG and raise funds for Girls Inc.
If you’re on my wavelength, you’ll see the appeal in running the Notorious 5k race which will highlight a different notorious woman each year and raise money for Girls Inc. You’ll also probably really appreciate the RBG-themed race shirt, the Notorious buff and sticker, and medal featuring a quote from the late Ruth Bader Ginsberg.
The race is scheduled virtually for March 15 (the birthday of our favorite Justice), and organizers invite you to knock out 20 push-ups before or after your 5k just like RBG.
Registration can be found online here for $49 and includes all the goodies below:
Participants can also raise additional funds for Girls Inc., a nonprofit that leverages mentorship and evidence-based programming to break the cycle of poverty and empower girls.
There is a Portland/Vancouver area race packet pick-up (to divert more funds to Girls Inc.) on Friday, March 12 at the Vancouver Foot Traffic location at 305 SE Chkalov Drive in Vancouver, Wash. You can also have your packet mailed to you as part of the registration process at no additional fee if you’re 25-ish miles or more from the metro area.
Participants are invited to upload race results, photos, and videos and share their energy on social media using #Notorious5K and #RBGSTRONG. While you can run your 5k whenever you want, they’re hoping to get uploads by Tuesday, March 16. So run solo or with your quarantine running buddy (mask up and stay distant!) and celebrate the power of being notorious!
