Spring is in the air and the hope for in-person racing events is finally becoming more of a reality. Trails are good for the soul, and the 2021 Alsea Falls Spring Fling is coming our way on March 14th. You’ll have your choice between a half marathon (actually 11.1 difficult course miles,) a 10k which is 5.7 miles, and a 5k as well.
This event will occur at a gorgeous location at the Alsea Falls Recreation Area in Monroe, and the course will take full advantage of a woodsy loop through the Pacific NW forests. Trail races come with their challenges, but the journey is worth the sore quads. The half marathon course is not currently set due to Covid, but it’s ON and the organizers are remaining flexible to changes.
The cost for this race is $65 for the half marathon, $55 for the 10k, and $45 for the 5k. For this price, you will receive a live, in-person race on a well-marked course and one “no touch” aid station where you can refuel on single serve packets of Hammer Nutrition (Heed) and recyclable water bottles. There will also be PB and J sandwiches and Bobs Red Mill bars available. This aid station stop will be at mile 9 on the long course and mile 5 for the shorter loop and you are asked to please wear a face covering when interacting with any of the race volunteers. Tech tee shirts, trucker hats, and other goodies from Oregon Trail Runs will be available for purchase at the event as well.
There will be custom made medals and glassware for the top 3 in all age groups which will shipped after the event concludes for a small shipping fee.
Please note that cell phone service is non-existent out in the woods of Alsea Falls. Take advantage of the scenery instead!!
This race will be limited to 200 participants, and many runners were transferred from the 2020 race that was not able to occur. In other words, this race will sell out FAST so if you wanna come, you better register now so you don’t regret missing out later!!
