Ready for live races again? Come to Newport on February 13th and you can run in the 2021 Run Love Run brought to you by Ardor Adventures. If you are up to the challenge of a 30k, it starts at 9:00AM. If the 15k is more your speed, that will start at 9:45AM. This year , Ardor Adventures has also added an 8k option that starts 5 minutes after the 15k at 9:50AM. All events will start and finish right under the Yaquina Bay Bridge next to Rogue Brewery.
The 30k will take you west towards the ocean and then around South Beach State Park on mostly single-track trails. You’ll head on back to the start where you’ll run by Yaquina Bay before climbing up to the trails, which are a mix of single track and gravel roads. At 11 miles, the 30k will split off from the 15k and lollipop around the Yakona Nature Preserve. At 15 miles, the 30k route will meet back up with the 15k course and follow to the finish. This makes for a 18.8 mile race, so actually a bit longer than a 30k! This is considered a challenging course and there is approx. 2,200 ft of elevation gain.
The 15k takes you on 1.4 miles of flat pavement before you approach your first climb. The Wilder Trails will come next, with 10k of single-track trails and gravel road. The last 1.4 miles is flat and fast! This course, like the 30k, is considered challenging with approximately 1,350 ft of elevation gain and a distance of 9.4 miles.
There’s also a Power Couple Division, formerly called the Sweetheart Competition. For this event, you can pair up with your spouse or a friend, and you don’t even need to run in the same race. The finishing percentage for each person will be added together and the duo with the highest percentage wins. This competition is in addition to the individual races, so it doesn’t affect your standing in the overall race results. If you wish to compete in this, each team member can register separately and enter their team name during the registration process.
The cost of the race is $65 for the 30k, $55 for the 15k, and $50 for the 8k. The cost will increase $10 if you wait to register on race day. Included in the cost in addition to an awesome race course, is a finisher medal, some Rogue Beer, and some delicious food at the finish.
Unfortunately, Post-race festivities can’t be the same this year, but please check back 2 weeks before the race to see what the plan is. Ardor Adventures is following the current rules and guidelines set forth by the CDC, and everyone is working hard to keep everyone safe. Expect that you will need to wear masks when social distancing is not possible, as well as at the start/finish line areas.
