Making a Day of It at home with the 2020 Cider Summit NW To-Go box!

I am sure all of us have something that we miss from pre-COVID-19 days. In fact there is probably a dozen things we can each think of. Low on the list of importance (relatively speaking), but still something I miss are beer festivals. I have loved heading out to small and big festivals alike and sampling some of the best new beers/ciders that our PNW (and beyond) have to offer. Some festivals have canceled this past year while others have gone virtual. One such festival is the Cider Summit NW – a fest that I was promising to attend this year and now I can thanks to some great opportunities.

When it comes to festivals, I always like to “Make a Day of It” by finding some nearby running routes before the event to explore. We even have a whole series based around this premise. However, with 2020 being 2020 it’s not as much fun, but still possible to do with a treadmill or neighborhood run. But regardless, I am planning on putting in some miles on October 17th, the date for the Cider Summit, before experiencing the To-Go Tasting Kit.

While it would be awesome to be enjoying some great ciders outside, this year it will have to happen at our individual houses – which could be worse. Tickets are pretty cheap (starting at $39 – $69 depending on your box) and come with some great swag like two Cider Summit logoed 6-ounce stemless tasting glasses, apple & pear stress balls, and small gifts from participating cider makers like pins, coasters, stickers, and coupons. Then stick around to enjoy the guided virtual tasting in the evening that features 90 minutes of live music alongside vignettes by several cidermakers.

“We originally created the tasting kits as a way to stay engaged with our attendees during the pandemic,” said Alan Shapiro, Cider Summit founder and producer. “We were thrilled with the response, which was a complete sell out. This time, we’re excited to include even more cidermakers and offer the kits to a greater number of consumers around Oregon and across the country.”
