Run Oregon is Kickin’ It In Deckers

W KO-Z Sport Low Wedge

Read up about Deckers and their Deckers Lab in our previous post.

At first glance, the shoes from Deckers Lab are a bit odd. The shoes have a larger than usual wedge and a unique look about them. However, once I put the shoes on any reservations I had faded away. These running-walking-doing-backflips-in-your-backyard shoes are perfect for those who like extra cushion and shock absorption. We could see these shoes being worn by people who are on their feet all day like healthcare or retail workers. They are also excellent post-race recovery shoes as they are soft and comfortable and come with an extra insert.

Anna says: I wore the lightweight W KO-Z Sport Low Wedge shoes around the house, while running errands and on a five-mile walk and on a variety of surfaces. I was a little concerned they would rub my heel as it looked high in the product pictures, however they fit well and made feel like I was walking on air. The EcoTan sheepskin and EcoTan cow suede leather construction and recycled Looped Wool kept my feet cool and comfortable all day. While it did take me some time to get used to the shape and design of them, I have found that they are excellent crossover lifestyle shoes for light running, walking, or just wearing around the house.

I tried a little bit of running in them, but the rocker style heel took some getting used to and was not overly comfortable for “serious” running. That’s not to say it won’t work for others, it just didn’t work for me.

The company behind these shoes, Deckers Lab also manufacture HOKA ONE, Teva and UGGs. The W KO-Z Sport Low Wedge shoes have the comfort of an UGG boot with the fit of a running shoe. The shoes are made in a factory that supports women in Decker’s supply chain with the help of HERproject, a collaborative initiative that creates partnerships with brands like ours to empower and educate women in the workplace.

Kate says: I wasn’t familiar with Deckers shoes before testing this product, but as a loyal HOKA ONE fan, I shouldn’t have been surprised by how much I enjoyed them. The multipurpose the X-SCAPE NBK shoes are plush and comfortable, and they did not require much breaking in.

Aesthetically, they look modern and well designed, and they also come in a variety of neutral colors. The hexagon details in the eyelets and soles are especially sharp.

Long walks have become a highlight of quarantine, and the Deckers X-SCAPE NBK are a welcome addition to this part of my daily routine. My feet feel supported and cushioned, and it’s a very comfortable walk. The thicker sole may take some getting used to, but it’s comparable to HOKA ONE shoes, so my stride was already calibrated to the height. These shoes position themselves as an all-in-one option for running, walking, and relaxing, and while they are certainly functional in all three areas, walking is where I have enjoyed them the most.
