Pacific Northwest Marathon has teamed up with area runners to collaborate a fun option for those that were planning on running the race September 19th. Of course we would rather all be together like years past, but there are still many “good” things we can choose to focus on during this time of change and “no races.”
We can still run! Races or no races, we can still lace up and step outdoors for a run at any time. If you don’t feel safe to run outside, there are treadmills available in many of our homes and most gyms are now open with treadmills available. We can indeed run together. Although large gatherings are a negative, we can still meet up with a few friends to run. We can run, laugh and be healthy together both physically and mentally. I know a run with my friends helps me control my stress levels, helps my mind to clear and helps my body to feel better. If running with others isn’t your thing, you can still run alone and nobody can stop you.
I want to encourage you, on September 19th, if you were planning on running the PNW Marathon, choose a route of your own and run it. You can run alone with your own thoughts or with a few friends. It can be a 5k, half or full marathon distance. Take photos of your run and even time yourself. Don’t forget to get creative. Take some fun selfies, pick a new route. If in the area, maybe you even run the PNWmarathon’s route. It’s a beautiful flat route. After you’re done, post your run over at PNW facebook page and don’t forget to use tags #PNWmarathon #pacificnorthwestmarathon #runwithafriend We can still spread the joy of running and help encourage others.
Run on friends, run on!
