Due to the current “stay at home” order given by state and federal government, most organized road races and other racing events cannot take place in their regular fashion this spring. WHY Racing’s Spring Classic Duathlon, originally scheduled for April 19, was also affected by these circumstances, and now registered participants have the option to defer their race entry to next year’s Spring Classic, or take to roads on their own and run the 5k, 10k, or duathlon as a virtual race event. The suggested run date for the event has been pushed back to April 26, giving race organizers the chance to upgrade the Swag Bag to include a sweet hoodie to commemorate the special circumstances under which we are operating these days.
Registration for the virtual event is still open. The cost for the race is $50 for the virtual 5k or 10k or half marathon; $60 for the duathlon. As part of the registration, you will receive a hoodie, tshirt, medal, and will be able to submit your time for official rankings of the event. Additionally, you will get a Chucks Produce Reusable bag filled with all kinds of great items including IQ Credit Union buff, MaryHill Buy 1/Get 1 Wine Tasting, Powerbar gel, SportsTea, Power Crunch bar, Hand sanitizer pack, Starbucks coffee, Franz cookies/pastries, Corwin Bubbly, Gatorade, Old Spaghetti Factory Breadstick, $30 off Elements Massage, 10% off at Foot Traffic, NWPT Trial pass and a WHY Racing Dining Card with coupons to several Vancouver area restaurants.
