Race Preview: 2020 Bend Marathon and Half

**GIVEN THE UNCERTAINTY OF THINGS DUE TO COVID-19, PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE PREVIEWING THIS RACE AS IF IT IS STILL OCCURRING . WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO FOLLOW THESE RACES ON SOCIAL MEDIA OR THEIR WEBSITES TO DETERMINE IF CHANGES ARE BEING MADE**

If you don’t already have the Bend Marathon and Half in your sights, you really should consider this scenic spring race. If you aren’t ready for a marathon or half marathon, there is always the 10K and 5K option, so there’s really no excuse. There will also be a free kids race, so bring the whole family! The races will start and finish at the Les Schwab Amphitheater and promise the best of Bend.

The April 19, 2020 events will be the best mountain town races anywhere. These are spectacularly scenic courses through West Bend emphasizing everything that makes Bend, Oregon great. You’ll cruise around neighborhood parks, through Ponderosa pine forests, along the mighty Deschutes River, and finish in a beautiful iconic Bend location to a hoppin’ after party where the kombucha and craft beer are flowing, delicious food is waiting, and you can relax because you just finished your best race ever!

There will be well-stocked aid stations every 2-3 miles along the course. Just make sure you bring your own refillable hydration vessel, as this is a cupless race. While there will be water and electrolyte drinks available, there will be no disposable cups. Aid stations will be stocked with gel, chews, gummy bears, M&Ms, oranges, bananas, and potato chips.

All participants will receive a shirt (long sleeve for the marathon and half marathon, and short sleeve for the 10K and 5K), a finisher medal, and a beer from Deschutes Brewing (for those 21 and over, of course.) Stick around afterwards and enjoy the after party including a variety of booths, vendors, and beverages for purchase – in addition to your free beer.

If you still need convincing to get in on this event, listen to the words of our own Matt Rasmussen, “Trust me, this is the latest addition to your ‘Running Bucket List.’ You won’t regret it. Prepare to be blown away.”
