Super Dave, with SuperFit Productions, kicks off the Central Oregon trail racing season every year with the Mastondon 10-ish miler. If you have not had a chance to venture out to the Maston/Juniper trails between Bend and Redmond, let me entice you with a course preview.
Unlike a lot of trail races in the northwest, the Mastondon is a fairly flat, yet somewhat rocky, and very fast event. The course is a loop that runs counterclockwise through a juniper forest, while running you over more lava rock than perhaps you’ve ever seen. The trails are a mix of winding, slightly rolling, rarely sandy, hard-packed single track, which are perfect for an early season race!
When: Sunday, March 1st. The race starts at 9am.
Cost/Registration: $45.00 if registered by 2/10 ($50 registration after 2/10). Register online here.
