This year will be the 52nd annual Willamette Valley Road Runners Zena Road Runs. This is the oldest race in Oregon and continues yet again! You’ll be able to choose between a 3 mile, 6 mile, or 15K course that traverses through some of Oregon’s scenic wine country. Some years are sunny, some are snowing, and others are raining. No matter the weather, this race is always well organized, stocked with plenty of post-race food, and wine!
Race capacity this year is limited to 400 participants and has a strict cutoff time at 12:00 PM which for the 15K runners means you need to be running a 12:40 pace or quicker. The 3 mile and 6 mile courses are hilly and out and back routes, while the 15K is longer, hillier loop. If you’ve been avoiding the hills this winter you may regret it! You can view the course maps for the 3 mile, 6 mile, and 15K by clicking the highlighted links.
With the limited amount of participants and discounted race fee, I would recommend signing up as soon as possible to guarantee entry. You won’t receive a medal from this race but instead a commemorative wine glass with a complimentary pour from some of the local wineries. There will also be a raffle to win a can of quarters after the race which is how much the original entry fee was, so make sure to bring a quarter as well if you’d like to participate!
