When thinking about signing up for a December race, it is hard to imagine getting all bundled up to run hard in the frosty weather. On the other hand, it is fun to picture getting all decked out to “strut your stuff in your favorite holiday costume.” Complete with jingle bells, of course.
The Jingle Bell Run has 5K and 1-mile run or walk options for the adults. Plus, a 1K Kids’ Fun Run, where elves are there to hand out finisher ribbons and candy canes. Don’t worry adult participants, you get a shirt and set of jingle bells for your race. The costume contest is before the events so that everyone can show off their jingle and jangle before the course.
This annual event raises funds for the Arthritis Foundation. 100% of the registration fee and fundraising go to help a cause that limits so many people from the walking, running, or just living that they want to do. As runner, I’ve been told many, many times that I’m going to ruin my knees with all those miles. And maybe that is true. Until then, I want to use those miles to help myself and others. And this race is the perfect chance to help our community, and maybe our future knees.
