Beer and Bend, two things that go well together in the Pacific Northwest, are headed your way for the 2019 Bend Ale Run on November 9th. Runners will have the option of a 10k or the new half marathon course.
The half marathon will treat runners to a trek up the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range on a combination of gravel and paved roads, some of which are brand new. Views of Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson, Three Fingered Jack, North, Middle, and South Sisters will occupy your line of sight while running, as well Mt. Bachelor. The 10k, which starts at the same time as the half, will follow the same course for the first three miles before heading back toward Discovery Park. One quarter mile of the 10k will be on a gravel section and the rest is on paved roads. Well stocked aid stations and plenty of porta potties will be out there, so leave it up to your race organizers to take care of you. Course details and maps for both distance options can be found here.
Not only do runners get a spectacular race experience, but they also have the option of sticking around for the Bend Ale Festival to celebrate. This takes place at the finish line in the Northwest Crossing Neighborhood where participants can sample 40 of the region’s best beers. All runners will receive a Bend Ale Run pint glass and 4 beer tokens as well as free entry to the Festival. Relax and enjoy some beer and live music at one of the many fire pits on site.
All runners will also get a Bend Ale Run beanie and a finisher’s medal. At 11:30AM, there will even be a free catered lunch for all participants to enjoy with their beer and post-race entertainment.
