Luckily enough, the Willamette Valley area is a temperate rain forest that puts the fun in cross country. Traversing single track trails and logging roads in OSU’s McDonald Forest, the McDonald Forest Trail Runs offer true cross country action in 5K and 15K doses. The 15K climbs for 1450 feet, so the ‘flat and fast’ moniker can’t be applied to the trek scheduled for Sunday November 10th.
The precise location for the race start is Peavy Arboretum, at 8692 Peavy Arboretum road. Due to limited space, carpooling is encouraged. True to the cross country nature, the course may see minor alterations if weather is a little rougher than anticipated. The course will include two aid stations for the sake of safety. Race time is 10 am, making it possible to sleep in a little before attacking the hills. There is a pre race packet pick up option at Five Star Sports in Corvallis on the 9th from noon to 4. Awards will be give to the top male and female winners as well as top masters and ten age groups.
Registration is currently online, sign up before November 1st to guarantee an event shirt! Cost is currently $30 for either distance, plus $10 if you would like a shirt. After November 1st it increases $5. The field is capped at 350 runners, so don’t delay.
