The annual Willamette Headwaters Endurance Events (WHEE) will be run from the Sacandaga Campground near Oakridge, Oregon, on October 5th. Participants can choose between 11 miles, 22 miles, and 33 miles, with offer a elevation gain of 1,400ft, 2,800ft, and 5,500ft, respectively. The course for each distance is an out-and-back along the single track, technical Middle Fork Trail, so whichever elevation you gain on the first half of the course, you will lose again in the second half of the run. Start times are 9am for 33 Mile, 10am for the 22 Mile and 10:30am for the 11 Mile. All participants have to finish by 6pm, and participants who do not pass through the aid stations at the three turnaround points at the cutoff time will not be allowed to continue on. The aid stations will be stocked with GU gels and chews. Candy and trail mix will be on hand as well as PBJ’s and salted potatoes. Drinks available will be Water, GU Brew electrolyte drink (watermelon), coke, sprite and ginger ale. Note the water at the Chuckle Springs aid station will be from the spring, minimal distilled water will be available. There will be a water drop 2 miles from the finish. Please use this water sparingly. The start finish will have snacks and a light dinner available. Please limit yourselves to one meal to leave food for later finishers.
