Race Preview: 2019 Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon (Half Relay and 5k) – Yamhill County

A brilliant, full-bodied run that will appeal to all running enthusiasts, the Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon on September 1, 2019, is a stunning race that is sure to please all of the senses. The course of this beautiful event will deliver hues of emerald green among a backdrop of soft pinks and purples as the sun begins to rise in the distance. The rich earth of the Willamette Valley, famous for its Pinot Noir, will be illuminated as runners pass vineyards overflowing with the essence of what will become an aromatic nectar.

Oh my. Are we talking wine or running? Both, actually! If you have not yet experienced the Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon, a race that has been around for a while (previously under Destination Races and still ), register right this second! The course meanders over gentle rolling hills and passes through four designated American Viniculture Areas after starting at 7 AM atop a hill that houses the Stoller Family Estate. While there is a 1.6 mile section of gravel, the majority of the course is on paved rural roads lined with farms and wineries.

The point-to-point course finishes in the picturesque town of Carlton. Once runners pass the wine barrel-adorned finish line, runners are treated to an assortment of post-race foods. Then comes the wine!

The Wine and Music Festival is the perfect way to celebrate your half marathon. Tons of local wineries will be on hand, offering samples of their world-class wines while you enjoy live music throughout the morning. Each runner will receive a complimentary beautiful stainless steel wine glass (or pint glass if preferred) and tasting. Additional glasses and tastings can be purchased when registering.

For those not able to make the drive to Carlton on Saturday for packet pick-up, there will be a Portland-area packet pickup on Thursday (8/29) or day of race at Stoller – both for a small service fee.

We have run this race many times and have loved our experiences – and we are sure you will too!
