Run in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho over the course of 6 days . . . This sounds like a bucket list series for Northwest runners. The Northwest Series is an original event put on by Mainly Marathons allowing runners to choose their distances in each of 3 northwest states.
Here’s how it works . . . There are races for 2 days in each state. You can run just one of them, a few or them, or run all 6 days. At each location, the route is an out and back course where you run laps to complete either a 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon, or 50K. Days 1 and 2 are in Pendleton, Oregon. Days 3 and 4 are in Clarkston, Washington – 137 miles from Pendleton. And days 5 and 6 are in Lewiston, Idaho – just 17 miles from Clarkston. Participants in each race will receive a medal, and those that participate in all 6 days will receive a special medal! This event has a “no runner left behind” policy and even awards a caboose to the final runner to cross the finish line in the half and full marathon.
Due to the out and back courses, the start/finish line is a well-stocked aid station with “more food and drink than you could ever need.” You can expect fruit, jelly beans, sandwiches, coffee, Gatorade, and more. They even have their own mobile kitchen known as the Loony Lunchbox.
This event is open to walkers and those with little ones in strollers. However, please leave the pets at home for these races.
If you want to challenge yourself and run a little or a lot in Oregon, Idaho, and Washington – this series is for you. I’m pretty sure this will be an adventure you won’t forget!
