2019 Races on our Radar #29: July 23

Welcome to the latest post in the 2019 Races on our Radar series, where we report on cool and/or low-cost races, group runs, price and registration deadlines, and other things we think you should know about it.

We would like to you hear from you, too. If you’re in the know on a race that you think others need to check out, let us know via email, twitter, or facebook!

Spread the word about the All Ability Tri4Youth Triathlon! It’s on Saturday, August 10 at the HMT Recreation Complex (the main THPRD complex on SW Walker in Beaverton). This triathlon is for all youth up to age 26 and was created to remove barriers and provide more sport opportunities for disabled youth. Registration is $35 and includes lunch; volunteers are also needed (there is a need for bilingual Spanish/English volunteers as well).

This weekend:

  • The Balloon Blast Kid’s Run for ages 3-10 in Bend is on Friday, July 26, and it’s free with a wristband to the Balloons Over Bend event.
  • The Salem Stride Half Marathon at Minto-Brown Park on July 27 is only $21.
  • The 5k Foot Pursuit in Keizer on Saturday is only $17. This race raises money for Special Olympics Marion County Local Program.

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
