Race Preview: 2019 Hagg Lake Triathlon/5k/Half Marathon/Sprint/Olympic

It’s tri season! Get the 37th annual 2019 Hagg Lake Triathlon & Off-Road Endurance Sports Festival on your calendar for the weekend of July 20th-21st. This is one of the oldest and longest running triathlon events in the nation and it’s a memorable and scenic one as well. There’s now an off-road triathlon option in addition to a half marathon trail run and a 5k trail run.

On the schedule for Saturday July 20th is the Half Marathon and the 5k as well as the Olympic Triathlon and Olympic AquaBike. Also on Saturday are the Sprint Triathlon, Sprint Duathlon, and the Sprint AquaBike. Sunday July 21st the Off-Road Day! Enjoy your pick of the Off-Road Sprint Triathlon, Sprint Duathlon, or Sprint AquaBike. There’s also a 5k Trail run that day. Check out the course details here.

If you want your journey that weekend to include a camping trip at the gorgeous Hagg Lake, that’s an option this year as well! The goal is to replicate the WildFlower Triathlon in California, which is known for a fun campfire experience that’s as much a part of the journey as the race. The cost for camping is $15 per tent for one night and $25 per tend for two nights. You can camp onsite on Friday and/or Saturday near the transition area. Please be respectful of the rules so Hagg Lake will continue to allow camping for this event in the future.

look at these awesome shirts this year!

The course, one of the “most scenic in the country,” according to the website, offers rolling hills for the bike and the run. Check out course details for all the events here.

The costs of the events vary depending on your challenge of choice, and there’s a $7 parking fee out at Hagg Lake prior to race day. (If you already have an annual Hagg Lake Parking Pass, you won’t need to purchase the day pass.) You can either pay this fee when registering, at packet pickup, or you can pay separately here if you’ve already registered for the race or are paying for a spectator.  Parking will be limited, so carpooling is encouraged. There is no parking allowed on the road or at the Sain Creek parking area.

Come join the fun! It’s a great way to spend a weekend in the summer at Hagg Lake!!
