Run Northbest 5k Series Returns to a New Venue (but there’s still beer)

Last year I tried my best to encourage everyone and their mom to register for the Run Northbest 5k Series, which was run in South Beaverton from MurrayHill Park. It was such a fun series, at such a low price, with cold northwest beers at the finish. It’s where I met my friends Nichole and Kim, and where I actually won a race for the first time in my life.

So this year, guys, help me out! Spread the word and let’s get the party at the Run Northbest 5k Series started!

There are three races, all on Wednesdays: August 7, 14, and 21. They’re all at Greenway Park in Beaverton, and each one starts at 6:30p. The start/finish will be staged on the trail next to Pacific Growlers Taphouse, which is in the same shopping center as Zoom Care on SW Scholls Ferry Road. NOTE: Run Oregon will not be hosting our Wonder Woman Wednesday run on these dates!

The course runs north on the paved Fanno Creek Trail and then makes an out-and-back towards the finish, with a little side action, to make a Y-shaped course. This is a very flat course with one noticeable hill, on the stretch heading up to SW Conestoga. But then you get the decline on the way back to the main trail. Compared to last year’s super-hilly course on the Powerline Trail, this will be a treat.

Best of all – this series is only $45. That’s $15/race. That’s including a Deschutes beer (or two) at the finish. And swag.

Sign up by July 24 for this price, or procrastinate and register for $50. (Still a great deal, TBH.)

And I will see you there!

About Kelly Barten (1067 Articles)
I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
