Race Preview: 2019 Red, White, & Blues 10K, 15K, & Half Marathon (West Linn)

A few years ago, Hood to Coast expanded beyond their massive relay from Mt. Hood to Seaside to develop multiple one-day relays along with some more traditional running events. But because they are HTC, the events still have a party atmosphere to give runners an adventure to remember. In the case of the Red, White, & Blues races, that adventure includes a hot dog eating contest. Aka a fantastic way to celebrate 4th of July weekend.

Red, White, and Blues includes three distance options: 10K, 15K, and half marathon. All courses start at Willamette Christian Church, then wind through West Linn toward the finish party outside of Lil’ Cooperstown. Longer out and back sections add distance for the longer races while the 10K participants have more focused miles to that finish line. All participants receive a Nike Dri-Fit race shirt, finisher medal, beer or wine, and hot dog (even if you don’t sign up for the contest). Shuttles will take participants back to the starting line and parking lot.

Costumes are encouraged for this celebratory race. There are even prizes for the best patriotic costume.
