When I completed my first ultra-marathon in 2018, I was sore for days and promised both of my feet not to do anything that crazy again…at least not without better training.
And that is what I’m working on in preparation for Mary’s Peak Trail Run on Saturday, June 22nd. With 50 mile, 50K, and 25K options, I happily signed up for the 25K as a chance to get out into the wilderness for an adventure that will have me mobile again on Monday morning. Plus, I heard great things about this race from friends last year regarding the course, the snacks, and the beautiful sights.
All the 50K and 25K race distances will start with a bus ride from Blodgett Elementary (near available camping areas for participants traveling far, or just wanting a pre-race celebration). The 50 mile runners will start and end at the school with the rest of us joining in for their latter sections. Aid stations are every 10K on the course with lots of snacks to help resupply you; but race directors do recommend bringing some calories of your own and require that you have your own bottle or bladder (like most ultra and trail races, this one is cupless). There will be meals at the end, including vegetarian, at the post-race celebration.
All participants receive a swag bag and t-shirt. Plus, there are finisher awards for all distances! So get on the bus, get on the trail, and get to that finisher celebration.
This is an ultra-running event 50 Mile and 50K with a tough 25K for good measure.
