Race Preview: Tygh Valley Infinity Ultra – New Event!

X-Dog Events introduces the Tygh Valley Infinity Ultra! This is not your typical ultra, but X-Dog Events is not your typical race company either. After running a few X-Dog races, I’ve learned that these guys are a little bit crazy, quite creative, a lot of fun, and guaranteed to organize a challenging event. The Tygh Valley Infinity Ultra is one of those creative ideas that will definitely challenge runners. Participants will run a 5K every 40 minutes. If you finish the 5K in under 40 minutes, you are in for the next 5K. Everyone starts each 5K at the same time and continues until they can no longer finish in under 40 minutes – or until they decide to quit. Yes, this event could go all night! This race is not about who finishes first, but who is the last man (or woman) standing. All participants will receive a DNF medal – yes, a DNF medal! 🙂 – and the winner will take home a giant trophy.

“The course loops will start and finish in front of the Rodeo Grandstands at Hunt Park/Wasco County Fairgrounds in Tygh Valley. The course will run through the fairgrounds and park and also out onto the frontage road.” As it gets dark, the rodeo grandstand lights will be on, so a lot of the course will be lit, but prepare to be running in the dark. There will be aid at the start/finish as well as space to store whatever support or clothing you may need. There will be toilets available in this area, as well. The local 4H group will have hamburgers and other food available for sale . . . if you have time to eat!

Camping will be available onsite for both tents and RVs. Check the website for links to more information on camping options.

The Tygh Valley Infinity Ultra will help support the Maupin School athletic and band programs.

Registration is limited to 200 participants, so be sure to register soon. You’ll definitely want to make sure to register by April 15 to make sure you get a commemorative shirt. This is sure to be an epic event with some great fun and competition. Don’t miss out on the inaugural running of this creative new event!
