Race Preview: 2019 Tulip Trail Run 5K, 10K, and half marathon (Woodburn)

If you are interested in a trail race in late March, take a look at the Tulip Trail Run. This is a 5K/10K/half marathon race taking place at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm & Vineyard in Woodburn, about 30 miles south of Portland. Race day is March 23, with the half marathon starting at 8 a.m., and the 5K and 10K starting at 8:30 a.m.

The half marathon course goes outside the farm, while the 5K and 10K stay on the farm grounds. You want to know what running on a farm sounds like? Check out this description from the race website: “The path includes a run through the tulip field, along hazelnuts, near coyote den and through farm fields.” (emphasis added). As someone who’s been known to follow a coyote for a picture when out running, I would love to run past a coyote den!

The top 3 male and female finishers get awards, and the first 500 finishers get finisher’s medals. Additionally, pre-registered runners get race shirts. Oh, and the top finisher in each race (male and female) will get a free entry to next year’s race! And when you’re done with the race, stay for the Tulip Fest — admission is included in the race fee!

Finally, this race is fundraiser for the Oregon City High School Track and Field Team.
