Race Preview: 2019 Bristow Trail Runs 50k/25k/10m/5m (Dexter)

It’s time to dig out your trail shoes for the winter season, and the first event of the Run Big Trail Series in 2019 is coming up on February 2nd.  The 2019 Bristow Trail Runs at Elijah Bristow State Park in Dexter (brought to you by Level 32 Racing,) is gonna be a memorable one, so button up your winter race gear and get out there and enjoy it.

There will be four distances to choose from for this event, and it really just depends on how many times to you want to do the 5.2 mile loop. The course, which is a flat single-track trail, will offer you views of the Willamette River and you can do the loop just once (for the 5 mile-ish) option,) twice (for the almost 10½ mile option,) 3 times for the 25k, or 6 times for the 50k.  Loops can be as mentally tough as they are physically, (and sometimes more so,) but I would much rather be surrounded with the wooded background this race offers than what you’ll find for your typical road race. There will be a few shallow stream crossings, but the water level will depend on the weather. Check out the course map for yourself.

There will be two aid stations located on the course, and each will be passed twice, so that makes a total of 4 stations on the loop. There will also be an aid station at the start/finish area for those doing multiple loops. Water, Gatorade, GU, and Electrolyte Brew Tablets will be available, along with some light snack options and some basic first aid supplies. Runners may also feel free to bring their own supplies and drop them at an aid station prior to the race, as all stations will be at road intersections.

There will not be an official award ceremony for this event, but there will be custom awards and/or medals presented to the top three winners in each distance, gender, and age group.

So come on out to Dexter in February and see how “loopy” you want to get!
