January 1st is a magical time of year, full of possibility that this will be the year that that bad habit is broken, a long-time goal is achieved, and some nagging situation is finally left in the dust. For many, those plans in the new year include some exercise or healthy living goals, like completing a certain number of miles in the coming year. The folks at Eastwind Running and Endurance know all about those goals, and how you might need one more race in the year to meet them.

The Resolution Relay is that race. And there are lots of options for how you can get it done just in time for 2018.

The half marathon relay can be completed in teams of 4, 3, 2, or 1. Or there’s even a virtual option if you want to be involved but can’t get to Boring on Sunday December 30th. Depending on which option you chose, each runner will complete one or two legs. The leg distances vary a little bit: 3.5 miles, 3.9 miles, 2.2 miles, and 3.5 miles. If you chose the 3-person option, one member will run two legs while the others run just one (so if someone needs a few more miles, there you go!).

All participants receive a long-sleeve tech t-shirt, a cowbell finisher medal with neck strap, and a wonderful breakfast at the Boring Grange after the race. The breakfast will include coffee and pancakes with all the toppings (including blueberries). Non-participants can join in, and are asked to donate.

You might be wondering about the “B.Y.O.B.” part of this race. That’s all about: “Bring Your Own Baton” Along with prizes for fastest finishers in each event, there will also be some contests including best baton. Be sure to bust out the glitter and bedazzler for this one.

With an event filled to the brim with fun, food, and finished resolutions, it’s nice to know there is also a great cause at the heart of it. Proceeds and donations from the event will be used to award a scholarship for local high schoolers who participate in physical fitness and strive for healthy living. The goal is two college scholarships: a $2,000 and $2,500 in 2019. So be good to 2018 you and to our 2019 future.
