The 10th annual Regatta Run is held at Tualatin Community Park on Saturday, October 20. The event is a fundraiser for the Matthew Lembke Memorial Scholarship fund, which awards scholarships to graduating seniors at Tualatin High School.
The race starts and ends near the big picnic shelter in Tualatin Community Park. The course takes participants on the walking/biking paths through Cook Park. It is mostly flat and fast, aside from one hill towards the middle of the course. The paths are away from vehicle traffic, but will be open to other non-participant foot traffic.
After the race, stick around for food and coffee, raffle prizes, awards, and samples from vendor booths. Also, at 10am starts the Great Pumpkin Regatta on the Tualatin Lake of the Commons, just a few blocks south of the race.
The race was created in honor of Corporal Matthew Lembke, who lost his life from wounds sustained on his third tour of duty – this one in Afghanistan, June 2009. To celebrate Matt’s character and service, a scholarship fund has been created in his name. 100% of the proceeds from the Regatta Run go into the scholarship fund.
