Run Oregon is heading to the 2018 Hood to Coast High Desert

A one day relay in Central Oregon in the fall? Yes, please! It’s time to gather your team of 6 and register for Hood to Coast High Desert. This inaugural event starts and ends at Brasada Ranch. The 71.2 mile loop course relay takes runners to Alfalfa (a ranching community I didn’t even know existed), past the Prineville Reservoir, to Prineville, Powell Butte, and back to Brasada Ranch. The route promises a variety of terrain, scenery, and challenges.

Personally, I can’t wait to run this. I ran my first one day relay last year (HTC Washington). After getting burned out on overnight relays, the one day format was a welcome change. Piling into a van with 5 other runners and running just 2 legs with no 3 A.M. sleep deprived running is right up my alley. I love the camaraderie of being with other runners – whether new friends or old. You’re all in on the journey together for the day. And, even if you didn’t know each other before the relay, you will certainly have bonded by the end of the day. Since running is often such a solo sport, there’s something special about teaming up with others for a running adventure.

Hood to Coast High Desert also includes a Walk Relay that will start at Exchange 4 (Big Bend Campground) and then takes the same route as the run back to Brasada Ranch for a total of 47 miles.

If you wish to stay at the start/finish, there is special Hood to Coast pricing for participants at Brasada Ranch. This resort has been named Best Resort in the PNW by Conde Nast Traveler for the past 3 years, so your accommodations will not disappoint! With golf, dining, various amenities, and the beauty of the area; you will get to spoil yourself a bit before and/or after your runs.
