Race Preview: 2018 Northwest Series – Eastern Oregon

OK, Northwest runners, here’s your chance to get in 6 races in 6 days or just run 1 or more – and choose from 4 distances. The Northwest Series is a 6 day series of races by Mainly Marathons is in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. This event starts over Labor Day weekend with the first 2 days in Pendleton, Oregon. Each location hosts 2 days of races with options of a 5K, 10K, half marathon, and marathon each day.

On September 1st and 2nd, racers will start at the Convention Center in Pendleton. On September 3rd and 4th, head over to Clarkston, Washington (137 miles away) for days 3 and 4 at the Conference Center. The final 2 days (September 5-6) will be at Hell’s Gate State Park in Lewiston, Idaho – just a 7 mile drive from Clarkston.

Races on each day include a finisher medal for all participants with a special medal for those that complete all the races in the series. This series has a “no runner left behind” policy and will wait for the last finisher to arrive and even award the final runner with the famous caboose. All participants will also a receive a t-shirt and some other race goodies.

The courses are set up with a unique multi-loop, so there is one giant aid station for each race with a variety of snacks and drinks. There is even a mobile kitchen on site known as the Loony Lunchbox.

For runners with young children, strollers are allowed. However, please leave your pets at home, as they are not allowed on any of the series race courses for safety reasons.

Join the Mainlyners (those who have run a multitude of these races) and first timers alike and run a unique series of 1-6 races starting this Labor Day weekend in a few places you may have never run before. Who knows, you just may just decide to become a Mainlyner. Happy running!
