Come out to “the ranch” in Baker City for the 2018 Hoofin’ It To Beef Fit for a flat and fast 5k or 10k! The 5k will start at the Thomas Angus Ranch and the 10k will begin at the Mackenzie Ranch and take you along the Leo Adler Memorial Parkway along the Powder River before ending at Geiser Pollman Park.

Gather ‘round the ranch at 7:00AM and be ready to race at 8:00AM! There will be shuttles from the finish to the start line starting at 7:00AM, but the last one leaves at 7:30AM so don’t be late! The finish is at Geiser Pollman Park which is located on the corner of Campbell and Grove Street. After the race, there will be prizes 3 deep as well as door prizes, so come hang out to see if you get something extra!
All participants will receive a t-shirt, a water bottle, and a swag bag, which is well worth the $35 cost of the 10k and $25 cost of the 5k. Please register before July 30th to ensure you’ll get a shirt.

Also on August 4th, if you find yourself near Union, OR and want a race that is said to be one of the most scenic races around, the 2018 Catherine Creek Classic Half Marathon, 5k and 1 Miler will be happening at Wallowa National Forest and headed toward Union High School.
This race will have long, gradual downhills (the course loses just over 1,100 feet in elevation over the course of the half marathon route) and you’ll get to experience the gorgeous Wallowa and Elkhorn mountains. Wide open farm fields will line one side of the road and the mountains and forests will provide eye candy on the other. The half marathon will start at Wallowa National Forest for a point-to-point course that mostly runs along Route 203 parallel to Catherine Creek and into downtown Union. You’ll also get to run through Catherine Creek State Park, a very popular fishing and camping spot. Check out the course map here.
Since the course is point-to-point, participants should plan on showing up at the finish line at Union High school to board the shuttle bus to the start. There will be no parking at the starting areas of the races and no rides back to the start from the finish. The bus will leave at 6:50AM for the half marathon and at 8:05AM for the 5k and 1 Mile runs. Day of Race Registration will also be available at the finish line to those who want to sign up before catching the shuttle.
There will be water stations approximately every 3 miles, but it is advised that you consider carrying your own fluid as the valley gets warm fairly quickly and you could get a bit warm for the second half of the race. There will be no bathrooms at the race start locations, but half marathoners will have access to restrooms at Catherine Creek State Park.
There will be awards for the overall winners, and medals and ribbons for the top 3 finishers in all the major age groups.
This race is limited to 60 in the half marathon and 100 in the 5k, and the $20 price tag is a great value for a scenic Half Marathon, so register now while you still can!
When: Saturday, August 4th, 2018, Half Marathon begins at 7:30AM, 5k and 1 Mile begins at 8:30AM
Where: Union High School (540 S Main St, Union, OR.) There is no parking available at the start line of the races and no transportation back to the start after the race, so please take the shuttle from the finish line to the start.
Registration Cost: $20 until August 3rd, $25 on race day
Packet Pick-Up: Registration will be available race day morning at Union High School at 6:30AM for the Half Marathon and 7:00AM for the 5k and 1 Mile.
