Race Preview: 2018 Bowerman 5k (Beaverton)

If you’re a runner, especially one in Oregon, you’ve probably heard of Bill Bowerman and a little company by the name of Nike. On July 28th, you’ll have a chance to run the 2018 Bowerman 5k, which takes place at the Nike Campus in Beaverton. This race, now in it’s 9th year, has gotten pretty popular. It’s even been rated one of the “7 Must-Do Races in the United States” by Competitor Magazine.

This race, as always, is a fundraiser for the Achon Uganada Children’s Fund which focuses on providing healthcare, education, and sport in Uganda. This is a great cause to stand for, and the Bowerman 5k has done so every year. Last year, $9000 was raised, with an additional $3000 in donations coming in and an all-time high number of participants. It would be great to see what can be done this year!!

The cost of the race is $35 except for youth runners (ages 7 to 14,) in which case it’s only $20. Prices will increase on July 15th, so please consider registering now!

The Bowerman 5k is a great chance to flex your calf muscles and see if you’ve got what it takes. There will be several elite runners and some competitive people out there giving it their all, though this race welcomes all ages and speeds. There will be young kids, people with strollers, and maybe even you.
