Race Preview: Inaugural Beaverton Half-Marathon & 5K

Whoo hoo! Another half-marathon along with a 5K race is making it’s debut in the metro area! RunwithPaula Events will host the brand new Beaverton races. As of posting time of this article, the 5K is sold out and the half-marathon is at 95% capacity, so make sure to register NOW!

This USATF sanctioned event will start and end at Portland Running Company’s Beaverton location on Nimbus avenue. The course will take you through Old Town Beaverton before entering the trails maintained by the Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation department and Fanno Creek Trail that is teeming with beautiful flora and fauna. You will see ducks and maybe a beaver or two.

The race course itself is paved with gentle rolling hills and steady elevation throughout. The half-marathon features a loop course and the 5K is an out and back course that starts and ends at PRC. The course is open to runners and walkers but permitting only allows the course to be open for 4 hours.

Post-race, enjoy an amazing barbecue with Rogue burgers and beer. A live band will perform while participants enjoy their food and drinks and there will be an award ceremony for top finishers. All participants of the 5K or half-marathon will receive a finishers medal and a race t-shirt.

If you are unable to participate this year, consider putting this race on your calendar for next year. If you were able to register for the 2018 inaugural edition, I’ll see you on the course as I’ll be volunteering at one of the aid stations.
