Welcome to the latest in the Races on our Radar series, where we report on cool and/or low-cost races, group runs, price and registration deadlines, and other things we think you should know about it.

We have an amazing $10 5k for you happening this Saturday, May 19 in Scio. The Linn County Lamb & Wool Fair Lamb Trot is only $10. You can register online up until midnight on Friday, too. It won’t be a big race, so if you’re like me, you can read that as: Great opportunity to try and win your age group! Following the 8a race you can hang around for the Lamb & Wool Fair, sure to be fun for the little ones.
Another series that is offering great prices is the City of Salem’s 5k and 10k runs, each one called “5k Stride” or “10k Stride” depending on the distance. The first one is $5 on May 26 at Riverfront and Wallace Marine Parks, with the following races on June 23 and July 14.
The Prefontaine Classic is coming up on May 25-26 and GA tickets are available for $43. This is an amazing event to see and rekindle your excitement for racing, or to just admire those who make it look easy to zoom. It’s also a great chance to expose young runners and throwers to track and field.
Helvetia 10k, 15k, and Half Marathon (June 9) is at $75/$85/$95 until May 27, then the 15k goes up to $90 and the half to $110. If you wait until DOR, it’s $85/$100/$120. We also just found a special deal online here from GetMyPerks.com: Registration for $52.50!
There’s also a deal on the HTC Race Series’ Red, White & Blues race from GetMyPerks, you can sign up through that site for $42. The race is on Saturday, June 30.
The Timberline Half Marathon has a price increase on May 30. The marathon and a half marathon are on Saturday, June 16 and another half marathon option is on Sunday, June 17.
The Gorgeous Relays Hood to Hood Relay has a price bump on May 22. Sign up before then to save your team some money! The relay is for a team of up to 6 participants and is on Sunday, June 10.
The Go Granary 5k in McMinnville on June 2 looks like a cool fun run. It’s not a timed event, but proceeds go to the Sheridan Japanese School and if you sign up by May 23, it’s only $25, including a shirt or only $10 without the shirt!
And, fun announcement: The Hippie Chick Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon, and 5k is returning to it’s original creator, Run with Paula, for 2019! Registration is already open for the race, scheduled for Saturday, May 11, 2019, and you can sign up online here for the half or quarter for $79 or the 5k for $45.
