Race Preview: 2018 Butte Challenge (Hermiston)

The 19th annual Butte Challenge in Hermiston will be held on Saturday, May 12. This fundraising event is the most established community walk/run in Eastern Oregon. The Butte Challenge raises funds for the Hermiston Cross Country Program (both middle school and high school.) This event includes a 5K run, 5K walk, 10K run, and a Kid’s Butte Scoot.

The 5K course is a loop. 10K runners will complete the loop twice. Please note that if you register for the 5K walk, you must intend to walk the entire course. If you are running the 10K, be aware that the time limit is 75 minutes.

All races will start at Hermiston Butte Park. Afterwards there will be an awards ceremony with age group awards and overall male and female winners for each distance. There will also be a prize drawing with a plethora of prizes. Last year there were rounds of golf, bowling, athletic club memberships, a variety of gift certificates to local businesses, and even newspaper subscriptions. You’ll definitely want to stick around to win!

If you wish to purchase a custom technical race t-shirt (for just $12), be sure to register by April 28.
