Race Preview: 2018 Oregon Coast Aquarium 5k and Kids’ Dash (Newport)

If you’ve never been to the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport, you’ve got a great opportunity to go on April 21st and to get a run in at the same time. The 6th Annual Oregon Coast Aquarium 5k & Kids’ Dash will be a truly family-friendly adventure that will benefit the marine science education and animal care programs at the Aquarium and all participants will also get free same day entry to the Aquarium.

The 5k race begins at 8:00AM and will lead you along a beautiful coastal route along the Yaquina Bay estuary. Runners and walkers of all levels 10 years and older can participate and strollers are allowed as well, (though be warned that parts of the course are on uneven ground.) The Kids’ Dash is a 1k closed-course thru the Aquarium for ages 2 to 9 years old which offers kiddos a chance to cross a real finish line. Parents are welcome to join the kids for this race, which will begin around 8:45AM. The winners will be announced at 9:15AM.

The cost for the race is $30 for the 5k and $15 for the Kids’ Dash until March 31st when the price increases $5. Registration will include a post-race festival as well as a free entry to the Aquarium (a $22.95 value) which is really an amazing deal because the Aquarium is fabulous and one of the best attractions in Newport. T-shirts will also be available for purchase for only $5, and they often sell out, so it’s recommended that you place your order during registration.

Register before the prices increase and head to the Oregon Coast for your next adventure!
