Strava Segment of the Week: West Side Trail Sewage Plant to Bridge in Redmond

Advertisements

I definitely picked this segment because there’s something about running a segment with “Sewage Plant” in its name that makes me chuckle. (I’m soooooo mature.)

West Side Trail Sewage Plant to Bridge is a segment in Redmond, and although it’s elevation profile looks like something out of a horror film, it’s only a gain of 31 feet. It looks crazy because the segment has one decent climb, but the rest of it consists of little rollers. The total length is 0.95 miles, and runs on the west branch of Dry Canyon Trail from the start of the greenway at NW Spruce and ends at NW Maple Ave. Dry Canyon Trail loops around the greenway so it would be a great place to get a few extra miles in.

As of March 23, 2018, the course records of Run Oregon Strava Club members for the West Side Trail Sewage Plant to Bridge are:

Women’s: None recorded from the Run Oregon club yet! The overall leader is Kelsey Swenson from March 2017, 7:40

Men’s: Samuel Schwarz from March 2018, 6:55

Speaking of the Run Oregon Strava Club … we’ve topped 150 members! Every run counts, even those short run like member Erin R., who logged a 1.7-miler this week … shout-out to you for making every mile count. Congrats also go to Diana Wojsznis for climbing 2,543 feet so far this week. If you’re on Strava, be sure to join the Run Oregon club and you might see your name right here on Run Oregon!

Strava is an online training and racing log for runners and cyclists. The basic account is free and requires you to create a login. There is also a premium version, but in order to run and record routes as described in this post, you do not need to subscribe to their premium service. Note that this is not sponsored by Strava, nor endorsed or supported in any way by Strava. It’s just a fun thing we’re going to do to give some speedy shout-outs to area runners and pose a challenge to those of you willing to take on their segment.
