Races on our Radar #12: March 20

Welcome to a new year of the Races on our Radar series, where we report on cool and/or low-cost races, group runs, price and registration deadlines, and other things we think you should know about it.

We would like to you hear from you, too. If you’re in the know on a race that you think others need to check out, be sure to let us know with our contact form. Tell us what you love about it and be sure to include a link.

You know Run Oregon likes races that support youth running, and the Tulip Trail Run in Woodburn is a great one with some beautiful views. The race is this Saturday, March 24th. There’s a 5k and a 10k. Registration is $35 and proceeds benefit Oregon City High School.

Also this Saturday is the Vortex Half Marathon and 10k at Milo McIver State Park. Sign up online for the 10k for just $30 or the half for $50. (Day of race registration bumps up $15 for each.)

How about a $25 half marathon? The Wheatfield Half, 8k, and 3k is this Saturday (March 24) in The Dalles. Check out this Run Oregon preview for the details.

Looking ahead to next weekend, the Sandy Nature Trails Run offers a 5k, a 10k, a 1-hour run, and a 2-hour run for $30/$40/$40/$45. Can you set a new PR at a timed run? Run a half marathon in less than 2 hours? Give it a try at this Run Oregon featured run.

The Easter Egg Stash Dash is still only $49 for the half or $20 for the 5k until midnight on 3/30. This Eugene race is on Saturday, March 31.

The Foot Traffic Flat has a price increase coming up on April 1. Until then, the marathon is $88, the half is $70, the 10k is $50, and the 5k is $37. After that date the prices go up to $92/$77/$55/$39.

The Pacific Crest Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k, 5k (road races) and 25k/50k (trail races) will see a price bump on April 1. Current prices are $110/$80/$60/$45 for the road races and $80/$110 for the trail races. The Pac Crest Weekend is June 22-24 in Sunriver.

If you have a team in the Wild Rogue Relay and are “renting” a volunteer, the $120/volunteer rate goes up to $200 after March 31. This relay runs from Jacksonville, Ore. to the Oregon Coast and finishing in Brookings.

The Blooms to Brews Marathon, Marathon Relay, Half Marathon, and 10k (race on April 29) has a deadline coming up on April 1: sign up by then to ensure you’ll get the super-cool finisher’s tank top.

About Kelly Barten (883 Articles)
I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
