Race Preview: 2018 Corvallis Half Marathon & 5k

If you are looking to PR in 2018, the Corvallis Half Marathon & 5k might be the first opportunity you get to do so, and the route is on paved roads, sidewalks, and bike paths. If you want to do more of a challenge, you can do BOTH races (there’s a discount!) as the 5k is on Saturday April 14th and the Half Marathon is on Sunday April 15th. There is also a 1k & 1 Mile Family Run on Saturday if you’d like something for everyone, and this non-competitive event will get everyone a finisher’s medal! Also if you run the 5k, you can run or walk the 1k with a family member for free.  Can’t make it to Corvallis on race day? There is a virtual Half Marathon as well! Just put in your 13.1 miles on race day somewhere and send in some proof of running and your finishing time and you’ll receive your finisher medal and t-shirt in the mail.

This race benefits several local non-profits. The Corvallis Rotary After FiveLinn Benton Food Share,  Vina Moses, and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) will receive all the proceeds from the race.

The half marathon will start at 9:30AM on Sunday the 15th (walkers will begin at 9:00AM) at the intersection of 26th & Washington. The “Tour de Corvallis” is mostly flat with 2 gradual hills and it’s also very scenic. You’ll start on the OSU Campus and head into downtown Corvallis before circling back to cross the 50-Yard line of Reser Stadium. Check out the web-based course map here.

The 5k, considered “one of the flattest around” will start at 10:30AM on Saturday the 14th. The location of the starting and finish line will be at the new SAM building in the SW corner of the Reser stadium parking lot. Check out the course map here.  The 1k/1 Mile will be at 11:30AM at the same location.

Bring all those old running shoes just taking up space in your closet and donate them to Five Star Sports who will be hosting a shoe recycling program on race day. Shoes in good condition will be donated and shoes that are beat up beyond repair will go to Nike’s recycling program that uses them to create track surfaces.

All participants will receive a race shirt (only guaranteed is you register by March 31st) as well as a finisher medal, post race food, and a free beverage from Block 15 Brewing Company or 2 Towns Ciderhouse.
