Race Preview: 2018 Alsea Falls Spring Fling Trail Run 5k/10k/Half Marathon (Monroe)

Being a runner in the Pacific Northwest means we have the advantage of a lot of beautiful trail races to choose from. This year, celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a gorgeous run through the extremely scenic Monroe, OR. The 2018 Alsea Falls Spring Fling 5k/10k/Half Marathon Trail Run will be your chance to start off a Spring running season in the best possible way.

Whether you are new to trail racing or a seasoned vet, there are some great options for you. The staging area for the events will be the day use area of the Alsea Falls Recreation Center where the course will take you on breathtaking trails and a few logging roads. This will be a challenging course, (especially if it’s been raining, as it could be slippery) and please look out for tree roots!! The routes are pretty straight forward. The 5k is an out and back with a large sign stating “5k Turnaround and 10k Turnaround.”  The 10k runs to the Alpha Aid Station and turns around for a climb up back the way you already came, and the half will continue on to the south side of Alsea Falls and back. There will be arrows and colored ribbons out there to help direct you. Check out the link to the course map.

The cost of the race is $50 for the half marathon, $40 for the 10k, and $30 for the 5k. The cost will increase $5 after 2/28. There will be tech t-shirts available for $25 for pre-order until March 1st, but there will be a limited supply on race day.

After the race, stick around for some food, as all entrants will be treated to a family BBQ! Beverages will also be included and there are veggie options as well. The top 2 men and women from the half will receive entry into the Mary’s Peak 50 Mile or 50k/25k. Other category winners will get 50% off an Oregon Trail Runs event!!
