Race Preview: 2018 Adidas Shamrock Run (Portland)

Thinking of running a holiday themed race? Love celebrating your heritage, with a run? Do you enjoy races that include a lively after party? Let the Luck O’ the Irish, be with you for this years 40th Anniversary of the Shamrock Run. This year, you will not want to miss this amazing running event. With distances of a 5k, 8k, 15k and Half Marathon, plus a 1k Kids Leprechaun Lap and a 4-mile Shamrock Stride! One of the top family friendly races Oregon has to offer.

All the running courses will start at the Waterfront Park, close to SW Oak and Naito Parkway. Then run through the middle of downtown Portland and will feature a slightly downhill section on the final stretch. The 15k, as well as the half-marathon will include the ever challenging and scenic Terwilliger hills. The Shamrock Stride 4-mile walk will feature scenic city views and a river walk, which includes walking over the Tilikum Crossing and Steel Bridge.

This run is a weekend long event. It kicks off with the Adidas Shamrock Run Fitness Fair, a two day event at the Oregon Convention Center. This fair will feature more than 80 running and fitness exhibitors, celebrities/ mascots, will have give-aways and contests and have a Leprechaun Lane are for kids. The Shamrock Run Fitness Fair is presented by Moda Health. On Sunday, the Shamrock Run will take place. There will be many activities in the finish area including the Widmer Brothers Brewing beer garden. All participants will receive complimentary hot soup, and an entertainment stage with performances from local musicians. Music will be featured at the starting line, as well as along the Shamrock course. Hours for the post race festivities will run from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Waterfront Park.

The Adidas Shamrock Run is sponsored by Adidas, Widmer Brothers Brewing, OHSU Sports Medicine, Moda Health, The Portland Trailblazers and the primary beneficiary is Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation.

5K RUN, 8K RUN AND SHAMROCK STRIDE:

  • Adults (Individual entry) — $39 per person – age 13 or older thru 1/14/18
  • Price increases to $44 per person beginning 1/15/18
  • Children (ages 3 through 12) — $15 per child
  • Children under age 3 are FREE, but do not receive a T-shirt

LEPRECHAUN LAP – Kids ages 3-12

  • $15 per child

15K RUN:

  • Adults (Individual entry) — $49 per person – age 13 or older thru 1/14/18
  • Price increases to $54 per person beginning 1/15/18

SHAMROCK HALF-MARATHON:

  • Adults (Individual entry) — $85 per person – age 13 or older
  • Price increases to $95 per person beginning 1/15/18

The Adidas Shamrock Run offers $4 off entry fees for members of teams with 12 or more participants and special perks for Team Captains! If registering as a team member, be sure to select the appropriate event in the team category, i.e. “5k – Team Member.”

Packet Pick-Up: Packet pickup on race day is not available. However, this year all bib pickups will be at the Shamrock Fitness Fair. Friday, March 16:  11am – 7 pm    Saturday, March 17   9am – 3 pm
