Strava Segment of the Week: Division Street Climb (Camas)

This week, our Strava Segment of the Week is in Camas. It’s a nice community, and this segment has a challenging climb that would be a fun stretch to add to a training run.

The Division Street Climb is 0.3 miles and goes from 67 feet at the start (at NE 5th Ave and Division) to 226 feet at the finish (at NE 15th Ave where Division dead-ends into Crown Park). It has been attempted 77 times by 63 people.

Remember, Run Oregon has created its own Strava “Club” (free to join, of course), which now has 122 members. Join Run Oregon on Strava here! This week’s shout-out goes to Carey Connell, for having the longest long run of the week at 18 miles. Great job Carey – are you training for a distance race?

As of January 19, 2018, the course records for the segment Division Street Climb are:

Women’s: Hayley McKeen from July 2014, 2:39

Men’s: David Hart from July 2013, 2:35

So, can you beat their times and become the leader of this segment? You have until Friday, February 2 at noon to try and break the record and see your name in “lights” on Run Oregon! We’ll post a new Segment next Friday at 12.

Strava is an online training and racing log for runners and cyclists. The basic account is free and requires you to create a login. There is also a premium version, but in order to run and record routes as described in this post, you do not need to subscribe to their premium service. Note that this is not sponsored by Strava, nor endorsed or supported in any way by Strava. It’s just a fun thing we’re going to do to give some speedy shout-outs to area runners and pose a challenge to those of you willing to take on their segment.

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
