Usually when you do a race, you run it as fast as you can in an effort to win, or at least do your best. But a predictor run allows you to do something different.. the awards are based on a participant’s best prediction as to what their finishing time will be, and no watches or timing devices are allowed. Come give it a try at Level 32’s event, the Winter Predictor in Eugene on January 27th. The race starts at noon, so there’s lots of time to get out there and get ready to run!
There are two distances for the Winter Predictor, a 6k and a 13k. The top 25 who finish closest to their predictions in both distances will receive awards, so if you know how fast your legs can carry you, you stand a good chance of placing. The top male and female who run closest to their predicted times in each distance, (as well as the fastest male and female) will receive a Champion shirt as a reward. There will be no duplication in awards. Times are based on the “gun start” and a “chip finish” time. The start will extend across the entire width of the road to make it as fair as possible. Everyone will also be eligible for raffle prizes too, so stick around for that!!
If you wish to get a heads-up on what to expect, you can always view the course maps before the race. Find the 6k printable course map here and the 13k course map here. You could even get out there and run the course before race day and see how you do. Both distances start at the Eclectic Edge Racing offices and will follow the Fern Ridge bike path.
How well do you know your pace? Are you ready to take the challenge?
